OBJECTIVE

Circular economy, Blue Economy and Cradle to Cradle are terms that have become essential in modern companies. Corporate Social Responsibility is of paramount importance for companies and increasingly it gets the attention it deserves. After all, obtaining raw materials is finite and the awareness that these raw materials must be used economical is starting to take shape.

The developments around bio-based materials have become an important part of our new economy for the future, therefore IBI2 will enter a cooperation with the Bio Treat Center in Venlo.
This way we want to realise that the developments of bio-based materials also get immediate access to the building world and interior design industry. These materials are still unknown but to offer the specifications therefore and the opportunities to implementation to the business, we intent to accelerate the innovation process with bio-based materials.
Also the awareness that the circular economy is trending, results in changes in the trading of companies, the purchasing of raw materials, the productions methods, the assembly and the recovering of (raw) materials when products are ready to be replaced.
Plus, consumers place increasingly higher requirements on the origin of products, the production methods and the sustainability thereof.
More than 30% of SME company in the production industry are occupied with sustainability, one way or the other. While it is the trend that also the non-production industry has a growing interest in ësustainable tradingí.  Think in this context of health care, accountancy, education, government organisations etc.
This is translated in the awareness of the environment and the role people play in this, and subsequently on which way companies must (be able to) play a part in this. Sometimes this will be prompted by Public Relations-like principles; however, in an increasingly extent from the thought that raw materials can only be used once.
IBI² Academy has formulated the following objective: to implement an acceleration for the understanding and awareness within companies for Corporate Social Responsibility. It adopts a thematic and cursory approach in areas like biomimicry, sustainability, bio-design, Cradle to Cradle, Blue Economy etc. Whereby the board and management will align their business operations to these topics. Subsequently employees can work from this thought on products that comply with the requirements of consumers.
